How it works

Reading dots and dashes

International Morse code maps each letter and number to a unique sequence of dots (·) and dashes (−). To decode, the translator groups symbols into letters using the spaces you type, then joins letters into words at each slash. For example ... --- ... decodes to SOS, and.... . .-.. .-.. --- decodes to HELLO.

Spacing is the most common source of mistakes. Keep exactly one space between letters and a slash (or a clear gap) between words. If a symbol group has no match in the Morse alphabet, it is skipped rather than guessed, so clean spacing gives the most accurate result.

Decoding FAQ

How do I translate Morse code to English?

Paste the dots and dashes into the Morse box. Put a single space between letters and a slash (/) between words, and the decoded English appears instantly.

What do spaces and slashes mean when decoding?

A single space separates letters inside a word, and a slash (/) marks the gap between words. Three or more spaces are also treated as a word break.

Can it decode Morse from audio or an image instead?

Yes. Switch the tool to Audio to decode clear beeps, or to Image to read clear dot-dash screenshots. Both run entirely in your browser.
